James Coppiner will be “ecstatic” about becoming a Nottingham Forest player, according to boss Sean O’Driscoll. The 31 year old has joined The Reds on a six-month loan deal and could make his debut against Charlton at The City Ground tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
Coppinger worked under O’Driscoll at Doncaster and joins ex-Rovers teammates Simon Gillett and Billy Sharp, who checked-in from Southampton earlier today, on Trentside.
Boss O’Driscoll exclusively told www.nottinghamforest.co.uk: “When you are trying to put a team together you sometimes need some glue, just like with Simon Gillett.
“Simon has proved his worth since he has been at the club and I think James will do that as well.
“He can play in various positions, he gives us a nice balance on the right which I think we haven’t had since Garath McCleary left.
“I think he will be absolutely ecstatic about playing for Forest. The City Ground is a stadium he always enjoys playing at – he was probably a thorn in Forest’s side every time he played them while I was in charge at Doncaster.
“It will suit him down to the ground, he will enjoy playing with the quality of players that we’ve got and the home support that we enjoy.
“There’s no transfer fee to pay and that’s a consideration when you are trying to balance books and do things within budgets and the financial resources that you’ve got at hand.
“In the six-month loan we can get a really good feel and hopefully extend it further.”
Tickets for tomorrow’s game are available in person from the Forest Ticket Office; on-line at www.nottinghamforest.co.uk or by calling 0871 226 1980 (calls charged at 10p per minute, mobile rates may vary).
