Karl Darlow is poised to make his first senior start for Nottingham Forest in tonight’s Capital One Cup first round clash with Fleetwood Town at The Highbury Stadium (kick-off 7.45pm).Forest’s No.1 goalkeeper Lee Camp is unavailable as he’s away on international duty with Northern Ireland, opening the way for his understudy Darlow to step into the limelight.
Darlow’s only previous experience of competitive first team action for The Reds was a brief run-out as a substitute against Crystal Palace two seasons ago.
But he spent the closing months of last season on loan with Blue Square Premier Division side Newport County and kept four clean sheets in eight appearances for the Welsh side.
Summer signings Danny Collins, Adlene Guedioura, Dan Harding, Greg Halford and Daniel Ayala are expected to feature against Fleetwood.
But doubts surround Simon Gillett, who missed Friday’s pre-season game against West Brom with a slight knock.
