A five-star performance from Nottingham Forest Ladies on Sunday afternoon secured their place in the next round of the Nottinghamshire FA County Cup as they beat Notts County 5-0.
A brace from Amy Dicken, a goal each from Hazzana Parnell and Katie Middleton, and a first goal for the club since her return from Lauren Cresswell got The Reds back to winning ways in front of an impressive sized crowd.
Notts started the opening minutes of the game well and had an opportunity to open the scoring in the second minute. Marriott hit a weak shot from outside the box but Rebecca Thomas got down to make the easy save.
But The Reds gained control of the game after that and created several openings before finally taking the lead in the 25th minute through the highly influential Dicken. Dicken skipped past a couple of black and white shirts before drilling her shot from 20 yards out that bobbled underneath Notts keeper Huscroft and rolled into the back of the net.
Parnell doubled Forest's lead 10 minutes later after some good work down the right from Danielle Sanderson. Sanderson fought hard to earn back the ball inside the Notts box and squared the ball across the area into the feet of Parnell who made no mistake as she guided her first-time effort across the goal line.
Middleton extended The Reds lead to three in the 41st minute to round off a great first half for her side. Dicken was involved for The Reds again as she crossed a low ball into the Notts box for a waiting Middleton who remained composed as she hit her effort first time and over the head of Huscroft in the goal.
Half time substitute Cresswell made an instant impact on the game as she grabbed Forest's fourth goal in the 47th minute. Grace Walters played a short corner kick out to Dicken who whipped in an excellent cross into the Notts box. Cresswell jumped high to side foot the ball first time through a crowded penalty area and past the keeper.
Forest were awarded a penalty kick on 68 minutes but Parnell failed to take advantage as she sailed her effort over the bar, but three minutes later they had another opportunity from 12 yards, this time Dicken converting to round off a great afternoon for The Reds.
