Nottingham Forest Under 18s remain unbeaten in their last three matches after a 1-1 draw at home to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
Forest made a bright start at The Nigel Doughty Academy and created an early chance when Elliot Andrew received the ball inside the box but his shot flew wide of the target. The Reds created another great opportunity to take the lead when the trialist got on the end of a superb cross-field ball inside the penalty area but his shot was comfortably held by the Crewe goalkeeper.
The Reds made the breakthrough when Silvio Bello showed quick footwork to beat three players before he was brought down inside the box for a penalty. Andrew stepped up and smashed it down the middle to put Forest in front.
Crewe equalised with the last kick of the first half after Michael Statham saved the first shot from Joe Levey but could not keep out the follow-up effort from Matthew McDonald.
The visitors had a great chance to take the lead early in the second half when Levey broke forward with pace into the final third before driving a low shot towards goal but Statham got down well to make a strong save.
The Reds had a couple of late opportunities to snatch the victory but Samuel Sanders' header from a corner drifted wide of the target before Esapa Detlef-Osong was crowded out by Crewe defenders when well-placed inside the penalty area and the referee eventually called time to ensure the game ended in stalemate.
The Under 18s are next in action when they travel to Burnley on Saturday 23rd November (kick-off 12pm).
