Nottingham Forest Under 18s will be looking for a much-needed win this afternoon when they welcome Charlton Athletic to the Forest Academy in the Professional Development League (kick-off 12pm).

The young Reds are without a win in seven games which has seen them lose ground on top spot, falling eight points behind leaders Sheffield Wednesday, and will be keen to quickly turn their form around.

Under 18s: Forest 3-0 Charlton

18 March 2019

Nottingham Forest Under 18s secured a well-deserved three points at the Forest Academy on Saturday as they defeated Charlton Athletic 3-0 in the Professional Development League.

Goals from Keith Asare, Will Swan and Tawanda Mutoti was enough to see off the challenge of The Addicks in a comfortable win for The Reds.

The Reds were the better side throughout and that showed on 21 minutes when Asare put them into the lead, drilling a low strike into the bottom right-hand corner. They then had Michael Statham to thank when he saved a Charlton penalty, getting down well to his right to push it wide.

On the brink of half-time Forest extended their lead through Swan. Dekel-Daks’ free-kick was spilled by the Charlton custodian and Swan was on hand to poke the ball into the net as they went into the break two goals to the good.

Forest were in the ascendancy after the break too and Tawanda Mutoti made sure of the win when he flicked in a header from a low cross to secure a comfortable win for Gareth Holmes’ side.

Forest: Statham, Clarridge, Spooner, Barnes (c), Bolland, Mutoti, Gibson-Hammond (Trialist A 65’), Asare, Swan (Trialist B 77’), Dekel-Daks, Mighten (Ogunseri 65’)

Subs: Liburd-Hines, Hammond, Trialist B

Goals: Asare 21’, Swan 44’, Mutoti 60’
