Nottingham Forest Under 18s fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon in the Professional Development League.
Two second-half strikes from The Bluebirds condemned The Reds to defeat after they went into half-time 2-1 up after goals from Will Swan and Gabreil Ogunseri.
The Reds made the perfect start on five minutes when some good work from Fin Back allowed him to slide it to Swan who made no mistake by firing it into the net.
Cardiff slowly began to get into the game, and they equalised on the half hour mark through a controversial penalty. The referee awarded the home side a free-kick before changing his mind and pointed to the spot. Sion Spence stepped up and converted the spot-kick to bring his side level, while Keith Asare was shown a yellow card.
But Gareth Holmes’ side showed great character and responded immediately. Ogunseri scoring his first goal for the club, ensuring The Reds went into the break a goal up.
The Bluebirds started well in the second half and that showed when they levelled the score. A free-kick was cleared into the path of Isaak Davies and he slotted the ball into the net. They then regained the lead when Kieron Evans fired the ball past Statham from a cross.
Forest made a double change with 20 minutes remaining as Alex Gibson-Hammond and Trialist came on to replace Alex Mighten and Silvio Bello in search of a leveller. But it never came for The Reds as they fell to defeat at the hands of The Bluebirds in South Wales.
