Match preview: Crewe vs Under 18s

5 January 2019

Callum Jordan

Nottingham Forest Under 18s travel to Alexandra Park to take on Crewe Alexandra in their first league game of 2019 on Saturday morning (kick-off 11am).

The Reds were in fine form before the break after winning their last four games, which has seen them go joint-top of the league as well as setting up a tie against Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup.

Gareth Holmes’ side will be hoping to continue where they left off in 2019 and secure all three points against seventh placed Crewe.

Forest have already secured three points against The Railwaymen this season after a comfortable 2-0 win at the Nigel Doughty Academy back in November.

There will be live updates via the Nottingham Forest Twitter account and a match report at the full-time whistle at nottinghamforest.co.uk.

Under 18s: Crewe 2-3 Forest

6 January 2019

Callum Jordan

Nottingham Forest Under 18s began 2019 with an impressive 3-2 away win at Crewe Alexandra to move top of the Professional Development League on Saturday morning.

Goals from two trialists and Keith Asare secured all three points for The Reds who eventually out fought a resilient Crewe side who continued to pull level before Trialist B's second half winner.

The Reds made a positive start to the contest when they took an early lead through Trialist C, but the home side then pulled one back shortly after as both sides went into the break level.

It took just two minutes for The Reds to find the net after the break when Asare netted, but The Railwaymen continued to fight back and equalised for a second time in the game.

Gareth Holmes's side continued to battle well, and the vital moment came on the hour mark when Trialist B netted what would prove to be the winner, to secure three vital points for The Reds as they moved to the top of the league by two points.

Forest: Statham, Greenwood (Trialist D 75'), Clarridge (Mutoti 85'), Barnes, Spooner, Trialist A, Back, Dekel-Daks, Asare (Hines 65'), Trialist B, Trialist C

Subs not used: Liburd-Hines, Bello

Goals: Trialist C 15', Asare 47', Trialist B 60'
