Nottingham Forest Under 18s’ play-off hopes were dealt a big blow when they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at league leaders Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday afternoon.
A win for the young Reds would have seen them boost their chances of getting into the play-off picture but goals from Bolton duo Lewis Fensome and Eddie Brown condemned them to defeat.
The Trotters took the lead on 20 minutes when a corner wasn't dealt with, allowing Fensome to pounce on the ball and fire it into the net to put his side into the lead.
That was a lead they would hold going into the break but the home side soon doubled their advantage when a through ball played in Brown who rounded the Forest goalkeeper George Shelvey to score.
The Reds failed to come back against quality opposition, losing 2-0, which sees them stay in third position in the league table.
Next up for the Under 18s is the visit of Crystal Palace to The Nigel Doughty Academy on Saturday morning, (kick-off 11am).
