Under 23s: Crewe 1-1 Forest

23 October 2017

Nottingham Forest Under 23s draw 1-1 at Crewe Alexandra this afternoon as a number of first-team players were in action.

Gary Brazil took a strong side to Cheshire as Stephen Henderson, Matt Mills, Tyler Walker, Matty Cash, Apostolos Vellios, Zach Clough and Mustapha Carayol were all named in the starting line-up.

Despite a bright start from Forest it was the home side who took a 10th-minute lead as Lewis Reilly fired the ball beyond Henderson at the near post.

The Reds responded well and levelled the contest soon after. Carayol's strong run into the penalty area caused problems for the Crewe defence and although goalkeeper Ben Garratt saved the winger's initial shot, the ball rebounded off a defender and into the net.

Forest pressed hard for a winning goal as youngsters Jayden Richardson and Arvin Appiah were introduced into the fray but they were unable to find it as Crewe clung on to a point.

Forest: Henderson, Gabriel (Richardson 46'), Ahmedhodzic, Crookes, Mills, Taylor (Edser 68'), Walker, Cash, Vellios (Appiah 68'), Clough, Carayol

Subs not used: J.Wright, A.Smith
