Nottingham Forest Under 23s got back to winning ways as they secured a 3-1 win against Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium.
A second-half strike by Virgil Gomis added to first-half goals from Aaron Smith and Ethan Stewart as The Reds secured the three points in the Professional Development League.
Matty Cash made his return from injury in the game, playing 45 minutes as Forest took the lead on 17 minutes as Smith converted from the penalty spot after Kieran Hayes was fouled.
Bolton responded well and hit the crossbar through Jack Earing but the bar aided The Trotters on 28 minutes as Connor Hall’s header clipped the underside before crossing the line to bring the home side level.
Wanderers saw several chances go begging but it was Forest who went into the break in front as Stewart powered home from Toby Edser’s corner.
With 10 minutes to go, Gomis added a third for The Reds as he fired low and hard into the corner to give Forest a boost heading into Friday’s match with Burnley at The City Ground.
