Nottingham Forest Under 23s struck late to beat Charlton Athletic this afternoon and keep themselves in the play-off race.
Sheffield Wednesday's win at Burnley earlier in the day meant Forest needed to pick up all three points to keep the pressure on The Owls and they did so thanks to Aaron Smith's 86th-minute strike.
Both teams played an entertaining brand of football on a slick City Ground surface but neither could make the breakthrough until four minutes from time when Smith fired a superb 25-yard effort beyond Jordan Beeney and into the Charlton net.
The result means Forest still sit third in the Professional Development League table, just a point behind second-placed Sheffield Wednesday and five points off the leaders Bolton Wanderers.
Gareth Holmes's side return to action on Wednesday (28th March) when they entertain Crewe Alexandra at the Nigel Doughty Academy.
