Nottingham Forest Under 23s earned a point with a 2-2 draw against Millwall at The Den this afternoon.
The home side went in front on six minutes as Mason Saunders-Henry capitalised on a poor clearance by Liam Bossin to slot into the unguarded net, but The Reds were level on the stroke of half-time as Toby Edser latched onto Brennan Johnson’s pass to drill a shot into the net from a tight angle.
Gareth Holmes’s side started the second half strongly and went in front on 53 minutes, with Aaron Smith winning the battle for the ball in the six-yard box to smash home.
Millwall came back though and were level on 79 through Noel Leighton, with the substitute volleying past Bossin.
Bossin though was to have the final say as he pulled off a fine save to ensure The Reds left the capital with a point as he saved Leighton’s penalty kick with five minutes remaining.
The result leaves Forest in third place in the Professional Development League table prior to Friday’s clash with Charlton Athletic at The City Ground (kick-off 1.30pm).
