Nottingham Forest Under 23s nearly staged a late comeback but ultimately fell short as they lost 3-2 against Burnley last night.
The home side took the lead on 10 minutes as a lucky ricochet inside the Forest penalty area saw the ball land to Tunde Bayode who converted.
Isaac Hutchinson pulled The Reds level just before the half-hour mark as he flicked home a corner but Burnley retook the lead just after half-time as Christian N'Guessan volleyed past Liam Bossin.
James Clarke's header with 20 minutes to go gave Burnley a two-goal cushion and it was a lead that eventually proved to be too much for Gareth Holmes' side as, despite Jordan Gabriel's goal in injury time, they left Lancashire with nothing.
