Match preview: Bradford City vs Nottingham Forest

8 February 2019

Nottingham Forest will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games on Sunday afternoon as they travel to the bottom side Bradford City.

The Reds come into the fixture of the back of a 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers where they earned a point in front of an impressive season-record crowd last Sunday. Trina Greaves opened the scoring for Forest after only two minutes before The Reds were pegged back in the second half and forced to settle for the draw.

Forest got their league campaign underway against The Bantams in August with a 3-0 win. Charlie Griffin opened the scoring after getting on the end of a corner from Grace Walters and Amy Dicken doubled The Reds' lead minutes later from the penalty spot. Georgia Hewitt rounded off the scoring and sealed all three points after she drilled the ball past the goalkeeper from 20 yards.

Bradford come into the game off the back of 14 straight league defeats having not picked up any points so far this season but will still be a threat to The Reds as they have managed to find the back of the net eight times. Forest's defence will be looking to ensure Rhe Bantams don’t add to their goal tally on Sunday but the backline will need to change as Grace Walters serves the first of a three-match suspension.

The absence of Walters may potentially see Sianna Bennett earn her first league appearance of the season after fighting her way back from injury. Bennett got her first minutes of the campaign three weeks ago in the County Cup as she played the full game. Hewitt may also return to the starting line-up and resume her duties in defence after missing out in the past two games.

Amy Hickingbotham, Shannon Weston and Izzy Sullivan may also all make their first leagues start of the season after all recently joining The Reds. Both Sullivan and Hickingbotham came on as second-half substitutes on Sunday as the side searched for a winning goal. Weston and Sullivan also started for Forest in the County Cup in their first appearance in the garibaldi and contributed heavily in the side’s 14-0 win.
