In his second season at The City Ground in 2014-15, Lichaj became a mainstay in the Forest defence as he made 45 appearances for the side and turned in a number of exceptional performances for The Reds.

The American full-back proved a fans' favourite last season thanks to his fully-committed displays and the Forest faithful showed their admiration by voting Lichaj as April's The Bed Chambers Player of the Month.

Lichaj, who signed a two-year deal after arriving on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer of 2013, was part of a Reds defence which kept three clean sheets in the opening three matches of the 2013-14 Championship campaign.

He went on to make the right-back slot his own and his performances paved the way for him to win his tenth international cap, in a friendly against Scotland, as USA ramped up their preparations for the World Cup.

Sadly, any hopes of Lichaj boarding the plane to Brazil were scuppered by a pelvic problem which severely restricted his playing opportunities from February 2014 onwards.

A product of the American college football system, Lichaj cut his education short to sign for Villa in 2008. He went on to make 31 Premier League appearances for the Birmingham outfit, 17 of which came in 2012-13 as Paul Lambert's young side battled bravely to avoid relegation.

The 25-year-old has previous Championship experience from a successful loan spell with Leeds United in the 2010-11 season.
