Fox made 30 appearances for Forest in his first full season at The City Ground in 2014-15 and showed his versatility by playing both at left back and as a central defender during the campaign.

The defender commenced a three-year contract in the summer of 2014 after enjoying a spell on loan from Southampton in the second half of the 2013-14 season.

Before arriving on Trentside the 28-year-old had been at St Mary's since 2011. He made 69 outings for The Saints, scoring his only goal for the club in a 6-1 defeat at Arsenal in September 2012.

A product of Everton’s esteemed academy, Fox's early career saw him embark on loan spells with Gateshead and Stranraer before he joined Walsall on a free transfer in 2005.

He made 188 appearances and scored six times for The Saddlers during a three-year stay and his potential was spotted by Coventry, who took him to The Ricoh Arena in January 2008.

A specialist set-piece taker, Fox made 63 outings for The Sky Blues and was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2009 before moving to Scottish giants Celtic.

Fox experienced Europa League football during his six-month stay at Parkhead before joining then-Premier League side Burnley. The defender made an instant impact at Turf Moor, scoring on his debut in a 2-1 win over West Ham United, but he was unable to prevent The Clarets from being relegated to the Championship and made the switch to St Mary's.

Fox has four caps for Scotland.
