Following a memorable start to his Forest career which saw him score 15 goals in just 32 appearances, Assombalonga's debut season at The City Ground was cruelly ended by a knee injury sustained in February.
The striker, who signed for Forest after scoring 33 goals in 58 appearances for Peterborough United last season, completed his transfer from London Road ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, signing a five-year deal.
And Assombalonga showed no signs of struggling to make the step up as he netted in both games against Derby County as well as a famous hat-trick in the thrilling 5-3 win over Fulham on Trentside.
He scored 24 times in League One last season, claiming the joint-best record in the division, and topped up his tally in cup competitions, scoring an FA Cup hat-trick against Tranmere and sealing Posh’s victory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final with a penalty at Wembley.
A graduate of Watford’s academy, loan spells at Wealdstone, Braintree and Southend provided the forward with first-team experience before he made the permanent switch to Peterborough.
