Guy Moussi hit the comeback trail as Nottingham Forest reserves beat Nottinghamshire rivals Mansfield at The City Ground.
The French midfielder put four months of injury anguish behind him with a 40-minute run-out as a substitute in the Totesport.com game.
Moussi, who was yesterday given the all-clear to play again by the surgeon who operated on his ankle ligament problem, came the through his comeback with no apparent problems, watched by manager Billy Davies and his coaching team.
Forest came from behind to beat Mansfield 2-1, courtesy of goals on either side of half-time from James Reid and Ryan Whitehurst.
Connor Higginson gave Mansfield the lead in the 28th minute, beating goalkeeper Karl Darlow with an emphatic finish following a slip by Hamza Bencherif.
But Forest were back on level terms eight minutes later with England Under 19 international Reid firing home from close range after Mansfield 'keeper Jason White had spilled Joel Lynch's shot.
