The Birth of a Play-Off Nightmare!!!

It's been far too long hasn't it? No, not me writing on here, I mean Forest being back in the Premier League.

Billy Davies's Forest guaranteed a place in the Play-off with the comfortable 3-0 victory over Ipswich at the weekend but this is where my trouble with the end of season nail biter's begins!

Last time we ventured into the play-off it was in League One; an easy home win seemed to be setting us up for a place at the 'New' Wembley. Step up Aaron Davis and Chris Cohen. Only weeks later the pair were signing for the club and in the case of Cohen he was worth every penny. As for Davies, well, he tried.

I spent the second leg in a hotel bar as it was the night before the FA Cup final and I was commentating at Wembley the very next day. So, I plonked myself in front of the TV in the bar and demanded that the Chelsea and Man Utd fans let me watch the game. They obliged and never mind the goals or the game on show; they found their evening's entertainment was the sad crying fat bloke in a bright red Forest shirt!

I sobbed like a baby as Forest crumbled to a Yeovil team that played far above its station. The tears weren't just for that terrible performance; the memories of Sheffield United came flooding back too. As if Des Walker hadn't scored an important own goal in his career already...he went and did it again at Bramell lane, consigning Paul Hart's men to another season of Championship Football.

So there's a crying issue, as un-manly as I've just made myself sound, I know I wasn't the only one on either occasion, was I?

This time round I have a rather pressing personal engagement that stops me from getting into the Play-Off spirit. I'm expecting my first child on the 27th of May and I know before you all scream at the screen " it doesn't all run like clockwork", on this occasion I'm praying for that exact date or later! The play off final for the Championship is on the 22nd of May and whilst yours truly is already booked for the commentary, rest assured that if we do indeed make it to the final that day I will be in the stands leading the singing form the front!

I have a spare commentator in place if I need to rush back home for the birth and a commentator in place if I want to see my red's return to the top flight from the stands but all I'm asking for is for the baby to be born before or well after, is it my luck that it'll be on the 22nd? What have I ever done to upset the footballing gods?

So I'm a little selfish in my thinking, I know; you can't blame me surely? Over a decade of lower league football and as we stand on the edge of Promotion and all I'm worrying about are Baby Monitors, High Chairs, Moses Baskets and Tummy tub's!!

My life, our club, one goal......COME ON YOOOOOOOUUUUU REDS!!
