Nothing really amazes you in the world of football, it seems that every week there's something trying to shock us, yet within minutes most of us just carry on with our day as if nothing ever happened.

I don't think that Steve Coppel and Aidy Boothroyd will feel the same this week. The referee for the Watford v Reading clash, though more importantly his assistant gave a goal at Vicarage Road this weekend that surly must validate the need for video replay's in football. A ball that landed on the outside of the post was deemed to have been inside the goal by the crazy flag waving assistant and as he had the better view, the match official had no choice than to trust him.

Boothroyd said that his players were "amazed" at the incident and it took them an age to settle back into the game. "I thought it was a goal kick" said the Hornet's boss. Steve Coppell showed a hint of Arsene Wenger in his after match interview, " Well, I didn't really see it?". You should think about becoming a referee then Steve?

Liverpool beat Manchester United last Saturday and raised a few eye brows in the process. They then won a tricky Champions League game in France, but when it comes down to the big games Rafa Benitez really know's how to make a mess of things.

Stoke City visited Anfield to face Steven Gerrard and his team mates, who must have been higher than Pete Doherty after the week they'd had, and somehow the boy's from the Potteries managed to do something that even 'old red face' Ferguson couldn't do. Stoke walked away with a point, Benitez walked alone.

Chris Iwelumo, a Wolves hat trick hero this weekend, gave the surreal another chance by being sent off just two minutes after scoring his third goal in the game against Preston. Wolves in fact finished with 9 men after goalie Hennessey was sent off in stoppage time.

Notts County continue to be the draw specialists, this time coming from behind to draw away at Exeter, Mansfield drew at home to Cambridge and Leicester chalked up two late goals to give them all three points at Leyton Orient.

The mighty sheep are now un-beaten in three games and Paul Jewell is the best manager in the league, said Adam Pearson, Derby's Chief Sheep herder. It must have been a real mint bath at Pride Dark as the visitors were FA Cup finalists Cardiff and we know the Welsh like a nice bit of cutlet!

I'm off to Notts County to do their Visually Impaired commentary next week, a favour for which I'm sure I'll be greatly compensated. I'm led to believe that Notts are very strict as to their dress code in the press areas, despite being a division 7 team for the last 100 years.

At Wembley Stadium I wear a suit and tie, which is my own preference but there stands no real dress code. Some of you may recall me telling you about Marcel Desailly's green corduroy trousers and blue suede shirt combination? That's the top ground in the country and they're not strict, Forest are of a similar vain, no real dress code either. But I've been to places like Huddersfield and seen members of the press refused access to the media area for wrong dress code, I've even seen a former England player given a pair of lost property shoes, just so he could sit in the press box?

So, it appears that Notts are trying to uphold their strong traditions and values by enforcing a 'no jeans or trainers' policy for the press, if that's the attitude off the pitch you may now understand the one's on the field. I wonder if the grounds man leaves a 'DO NOT WALK ON THE GRASS' sign on the goal line during County games, it might explain the lack of wins this season.

The Tree Tops…….Well, bottom.

Forest pummelled Charlton's goal at times on Saturday and I'm sure CC was left scratching his Haggis for a reason as to why the red's didn't win.

Poor decision making and wayward shooting were the main culprit this weekend but in truth, those reason's are at the top of the list most weekend's at the moment.

Andrew Cole needs to take a few of his fellow team mates to one side and give them a lesson in composure and accuracy whilst CC needs to determine if some of his players are a little bit indecisive?

Martin tends to shoot when better passes are on, Tyson tends to choose the wrong option 9 times out of 10, Moussi looks like he's fell out of his bowl when he gets into the penalty area and Chris Cohen always looks to pass whilst he's in a great shooting position.

If Forest continue to not punish the opposition when their so far on top then the season is going to be a long hard slog but don't feel like I'm being negative, I'm not.

I've seen plenty to tell me that Forest could be a force in the Championship and at some stage in these first ten games it will all click into position. The knowledge that our most creative midfielder is sidelined yet we're still creating chances is a plus. Julian Bennett returning is a massive bonus and the fact that James Perch is as Committed to any position on the field inspires me immensely.

I'm sure when I go on to the Fan talk section of the Forest web-site I'll see pretentious muppet's calling for CC' to go and as for the bloke last week who was making outlandish claims, such as "Why is Cole on £25k a week" -As if mate? Or, " Moussi need's a ball winner with him so he can be the creative midfielder" - er, earth to doughnut, Moussi was brought to be the ball winner? And his best remark, other than constantly asking for CC's resignation was " why does he play right footed players on the left and left footers on the right?" - Mmmmm, let me see, have you ever watched Ronaldo play?, how about Walcott, maybe George Best?

Players who are tricky or have an abundance of pace are given free reign to try and find holes and create space, but you being the best manager in the World, you already knew that!

Keep on believing people, what's out there is good enough, we just need to produce that final touch.
