Last season Forest played against 11 men behind the ball almost weekly, so how is it that we seemed not to of learned anything from those games and were unable to overcome Burnley.

Forest started lively against a Burnley team starting out with a 5 man back line. Shots from Cohen and Martin after ten minute's showed great promise but it was Nathan Tyson who had the best of the early exchanges.

Fed through by an accurate Cohen pass, Tyson raced into the box only to lose all sense of composure, firing well over an on rushing Brian Jensen in the Burnley goal, from 15 yards out.

Forest would rue that missed chance 10 minute's later when a free kick 25 yards out was curled home for the visitors by an impressive Graham Alexander. Paul Smith's positioning was questionable on this occasion.

All Forest's imagination and creativity seemed to disappear as fast as Amir Kahn's Glass Chin. Burnley bossed the last 20 minute's of the first half and a couple more chances for them saw out a disappointing half.

Robert Earnshaw saw a close range effort saved just before the half time whistle but Forest created little else to trouble the Claret's.

Forest got off to a great start in the second half scoring an equaliser after just 6 minute's of the re-start. Tyson was clattered just out side the box before Martin swung in a wicked free-kick. Burnley captain Steven Caldwell glanced the cross against his own bar and the re-bound fell kindly to Robert Earnshaw a few yards out for the Welshman to knock the ball home for his 5th goal of the season.

Similarly to the first 20 minute's off the first half Forest began to dominate, on several occasions Burnley had no one inside Forest's half. Just three minute's later and Jensen kept Forest out again after a shot by Moussi.

Adie Akinbyi was introduced on 66 and won a penalty on 68, now that's an influential substitution. Akinbiyi combined well with fellow sub Robbie Blake to steal possession on the left a moved towards the forest box.

Blake fed the ball into the box for Akinbiyi to cross. Wes Morgan fell to the floor only to see the ball hit his arm and the referee pointing to the spot. Up stepped Graham Alexander once again and he drilled his spot kick into the net, capping a great week for the Scot who was involved in the Scotland win on Wednesday.

Despite The Introduction of Cole and McCleary towards the end Forest created little in the way of clear cut chances and despite 4 minute's of injury time pressure the final score was probably a fair reflection of the game.

Burnley showed resilience and grit and will gladly take 3 points back to Turf Moor, as for Forest , they must go away to in form Preston on Tuesday night before facing tough opposition in the shape of Charlton at the City Ground next Saturday.
