Sunday morning I told a good friend of mine that I was looking for something good or positive, following Saturdays defeat, to write in this column. His response was that after 90 minutes at Bournemouth on Saturday the referee blew the full time whistle.

It wasn't the most helpful of insights I was looking for but it sure summed up a lot of Forest supporters opinions as of late. There's passion and fire in the stomachs of the players but no belief or understanding in their head. Why have we only lost once at home all season, yet don't appear to be able to find any modicum of form on the road? Colin Calderwood said the best thing associated to the game at Dean Court were the once again excellent Forest following in the stands.

I stand by Calderwoods thinking regarding the transfer window. We didn't get who we wanted, for good reasons, but we also didn't get players we neither wanted or needed. By this I take Swansea and Doncaster as examples. The league leaders signed no one and second place Donny didn't 'vastly' improve their squad with an ageing Centre forward called Gareth Taylor. To me neither of those clubs made improvements to their squad. To their credit they didn't off load either.

What these clubs have done differently this season is take players on loan. Fabian Brandy is an 18 year old Manchester United striker who scored Swansea's winner this weekend. United hold this youngster in high regard, so even if Swansea made it to the Championship do you honestly believe United will sell a highly rated talent? Donny on the other hand have Matthew Mills, a tall and very League 1 adequate centre back on loan from Manchester City in their ranks, like Brandy, Mills is only there for experience. If Brandy or Mills make telling contributions for these respected clubs then great, but come next season you have to find a replacement. That unsettles the team. The new player requires time to settle and the fans have to take to them. By having players signed to a permanent deal you know what you've got and not what you're certain to loose.

What Calderwood was trying to do with the transfer window was bring in players to not only help the club escape this league but who would also help the team hit the ground running in the Championship. Ian Dowie just never wanted Leon Best to leave Coventry and once Celtic had offered Barry Robson European Football there was only one decision for the Midfielder to make.

Last matter, Forest wise, saw the departure or Neil Lennon. Forest fans I've spoken to since Friday have tried to pretend that this was an horrific event. Rubbish! These people before hand, had all told me how Lewis McGugan can do the same job with younger legs, more enthusiasm and seems to exhibit more skill. So why, now Lennon heads to the dizzy heights of 6th in League 2, do these people insist on trying to convince themselves, and me, that this is a real loss of quality and experience, when I'm not convinced I'd seen him do what we signed him for in the first place, which was to run games.

The loan window opens this week, so lets see what the club can achieve in the way of bringing in talent. If indeed nothing transpires, remember you support the club as a whole not certain individuals, so get behind the team at the next game. Confidence breeds results, whilst pressure just makes the job in hand especially difficult.
