The Republic of Ireland Under 21 goalkeeper spent much of last season on loan with Eastwood Town.
Redmond made the move to Coronation Park as part of Forest's policy of exposing their promising young players to as much first team action as possible.
In the Dubliner's case it was a highly successful initiative as he made more than 30 appearances for Eastwood and helped them land the Northern Premier Division title.
He also played a key role in helping Eastwood reach the third round of the FA Cup.
