He scored eight goals, which represented a good return considering the fact that he wasn't able to launch his Forest career until October '08.
He joined the club four months earlier from Carlisle in a deal worth £1.14million but at that stage was still recovering from a knee ligament operation.
But once he got the all-clear to pull on a red shirt he showed all of the qualities that prompted Forest's interest in the first place ... and made him such a big hit with his previous club.
Before his injury Garner had scored 14 goals in 30 league appearances for Carlisle in the 2007-08 season and grabbed five goals from 17 starts the campaign before.
He began his career with Blackburn's highly-respected Academy and represented England at schoolboy and Under 19 level.
Initially he moved to Carlisle on loan to gain regular first team experience but he did so well at Brunton Park that the Cumbrians were delighted to make the deal permanent in what was a club record £140,000 transfer at the beginning of the 2007-08 season.
Forest debut: October 25th, 2008 v Cardiff City (H) Championship
