He may be in his early 20s but he has already packed a great deal into his career, at both domestic and international level.
Gunter has made more than 130 first team appearances at club level for Forest, Spurs and Cardiff, and has been a fixture in the Welsh side since making his senior debut as a 17 year old.
He joined Forest from Spurs in the summer of 2009 after a highly-successful loan spell at The City Ground and has become a firm fans favourite.
He is at his happiest operating at right back but was successfully switched to the opposite flank on a few occasions last season - a role he has also fulfilled for Wales.
Gunter began his career with Cardiff and was named the Football League's Apprentice of the Year in 2007.
His progress soon attracted the interest of Premier League scouts with Everton and Tottenham heading the chase for his services.
Spurs won that particular race in January 2008 and after playing only a handful of league games for the North London club, he leapt at the chance to play on a regular basis with Forest.
