A season of frustration ended on a positive note for the teenager, who forced his way back into Colin Calderwood's first team thinking after a successful loan spell with League One rivals Gillingham.
Bastians produced a number of eye-catching displays for The Gills and that was enough to propel him back into the reckoning for the final three games of Forest's regular league season.
He stepped off the bench on two occasions and will be hoping to build on that in the coming months.
The German Under 19 international also had loan spells last season with Northwich Victoria and Halifax after finding his route to the first team scene at The City Ground blocked.
He first made his mark on the senior scene during the 2005-06 campaign, clocking-up 12 appearances for the Club.
