The versatile defender returned to The City Ground from Brighton during the summer of 2009 after a successful loan spell at The City Ground last season.
He spent more than six months on Trentside, clocking-up 23 appearances - mostly at left back - and prompting Billy Davies to pay £200,000 for his services.
A product of Brighton's youth system, he was still a youth team player when he made his debut for them in the Championship against Southampton in January 2006.
He got his first taste of league action as a full back but has forged a considerable reputation as a central defender, attracting interest in the past from several Premier League clubs.
He made more than 70 appearances for The Seagulls but joined Forest after finding himself out of favour on the south coast.
Forest debut: September 30, 2008 v Sheffield Wednesday (A) Championship
