The dynamic, all-action midfielder is Forest's reigning 'Player of the Year' and few could argue that he didn't deserve that particular accolade.
He played in all but five of the club's Championship games and was a key figure in their success in staving off the threat of relegation.
By his own admission he would have liked to have contributed more goals - he scored twice - but there was no doubting the quality of his performances or his remarkable consistency.
He joined Forest from Yeovil in the summer of 2007 in a double deal that also saw Arron Davies check-in at The City Ground.
He quickly made a big impression and clocked-up more than 40 appearances as Forest secured promotion from League One.
A classy play-maker, Cohen started his career with West Ham, making 18 league appearances for the East London club.
He had a hugely successful loan spell with Yeovil before completing a permanent move in the summer of 2006 and repeatedly showed the kind of skills that many in the game believe will earn him a return to the Premiership in the future.
Forest debut: September 15, 2007 v Port Vale (A) League One
My First.....
My first team were Grays Cosmos, who were my local team and my dad was the manager. I started playing for them when I was six and we won a lot of stuff in our area.
The first game I went to was Norwich against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough - although I can't remember the score. I was born in Norwich and went through a spell of supporting them, while my brother Greg was a Wednesday fan.
My first league appearance was for West Ham against Sunderland in the Championship at Upton Park. I came on as a substitute and I've got a picture at home of Alan Pardew, who was manager at the time, trying to make the change with me stood in the background bricking myself. We were 2-1 down when I went on but won 3-2. I can't take any of the credit, though, because I only touched the ball three times.
My first roommate was Mark Noble at West Ham. We got on really well back then and we're still mates. In fact, he's one of my best friends in football.
My first influence were my parents and my older brother Greg, who I used to go down to the park with all the time to kick a ball around.
My first position was as a flying left winger because, believe it or not, I used to be quick.
The first league ground I played on was the old Wembley. It was the London Cup final and although my team weren't in it, four of us got to go there and perform a skills session on the pitch and had a tour of the stadium.
My first autograph was Harry Redknapp. His autobiography was the first book I ever read and I got someone to ask him to sign it for me.
My first goal was for Yeovil against Gillingham. There was a defensive mix-up and when the ball came to me I just headed it back over the 'keeper. I hadn't scored for them after 20-odd appearances, so you can imagine what a good feeling it was.
My first pay packet was £60 a week as a YTS at West Ham.
My first disappointment was being in the Yeovil side that lost in the League One play-off final against Blackpool in 2007. After having such a good season I had to go off injured after 30-odd minutes and to go to Wembley and not really turn up was a bitter blow.
My first car was a black Vauxhall Corsa. I'm now driving a BMW with a dent in the boot. I was reversing the other day and although the reserving sensor was bleeping, I was looking in the mirror and had convinced myself there was nothing behind me so kept going. I was wrong!
My first album would have been by Oasis, possibly 'Definitely Maybe' and I've still got it somewhere.
My first holiday abroad would have been camping in the south of France. When I was a kid we always went there.
