He made a significant breakthrough towards the end of last season as he finally got the chance to perform for The Reds as a central defender.
Chambers had long yearned for the opportunity to show what he's capable of at the heart of the Forest defence, having played at right back since his arrival from Northampton during the January 2007 transfer window.
But when Billy Davies handed him his big chance 'Chambo' didn't disappoint and will be looking to play there again in the months ahead.
Ex-Forest boss Colin Calderwood raided his former club to land Chambers, paying an undisclosed fee for a player who made his debut for Northampton as a 17-year-old.
He made such impressive progress at Sixfields Stadium that he was eventually handed the captain's armband.
Chambers made more than 120 appearances for The Cobblers and was a key figure as, under Calderwood, they secured automatic promotion from League Two in 2006.
Forest debut: February 3rd, 2007 v Bradford (A) (League 1)
My First.....
My first team was Raunds Tigers Under 9s and I have to admit we weren't too bad. We won the Northamptonshire County Cup.
The first game I went to was Arsenal against Aston Villa at Highbury. Several members of my family are big Arsenal fans and although I can't remember the result I'm pretty sure Paul Merson scored - for Villa!
My first league appearance was for Northampton against Mansfield on the final day of the 2002-03 season. We had already been relegated and lost 2-1. I had an absolute beast - I lost my man within 30 seconds of coming on as a substitute which led to them equalising and then gave a penalty away. I played right of a three-man defence and had never played there before but that's no excuse.
My first roommate was goalkeeper Luke Weaver. We went to America in pre-season with Northampton when I was only 17 and he really looked after me, which to be honest someone had to!
My first influence was a guy called David Joiner. He looked after Northampton's Centre of Excellence but sadly died when I was 14. Paul Anderson knew David as well and he was a top guy and a great coach.
My first position was as an attacking central midfield player as a kid and I thought I was alright - although the fact that I'm now playing at the back would suggest other people didn't quite rate me particularly highly in that role.
The first league ground I played on was Scunthorpe's Glandford Park for Northampton in an FA Youth Cup game - although I can't honestly remember much about it. I'm not even sure whether we won or not.
My first autograph does not exist. I'm happy to sign autographs but I'm not really into things like that and can't remember ever asking for one myself.
My first goal was in a friendly for Northampton against Dundee, just after I had been given the No.2 shirt. I was playing at right back and when a cross from the left was knocked out to the edge of the area, I took a touch and banged it in the bottom corner.
My first pay packet was £200 as a youth team player at Northampton.
My first disappointment was losing to Tranmere in the Youth Alliance Cup while I was at Northampton. We lost 3-0.
My first car was a Renault Clio, which I wrote off within a month of having it. Someone pulled out in front of me and I smashed into them.
My first album would have been 'Now 28' or something like that.
My first holiday abroad was in a villa in Spain when I was about five. I have no idea whereabouts in Spain it was - just the Spanish bit!
