He ended speculation about his Forest future during the summer of 2007 by agreeing to sign a one-year extension to his current deal with the club.

Commons has made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level than League One and will be hoping to help The Reds clinch a Championship return this season.

If promotion is to be achieved, he's likely to be a key figure. A richly-talented performer, Commons possesses a sweet left foot and a key eye for goal - as his return of 13 league and cup goals last season illustrated.

Has played much of his football for Forest on the left-side of midfield, although Colin Calderwood has given him license to 'roam' on occasions and has also deployed him as a striker.

Born and raised in Mansfield, he was on Forest's books as a youngster. After parting company with The Reds, he had a brief spell with Notts County and was on trial with Chesterfield when Stoke spotted his potential and offered him a scholarship.

Graduated from the youth ranks at The Britannia Stadium to establish himself on the first team scene but disappointed The Potters when he decided to turn down their offer of a new contract in favour of a move to Forest.
