Nottingham Forest are set to go for Kris Boyd

NOTTINGHAM Forest are set to spark the Boro exodus with a summer move for Kris Boyd.
Forest boss Billy Davies has given a clear indication that he believes Boyd can score goals for the Midlanders next season.
Davies said: "I don't think Kris will find his true sharpness until next season - but there is no doubt that he will score goals.
"He scored goals for us again, against Scunthorpe. His fitness is still not where it could be.
"But to get him to that, we would need to get him through a pre-season.
"However, we also know that strikers are all about scoring goals and that is exactly what he is doing. Hopefully, that will continue."

"I have six out of contract players in the summer, who are in a similar position, waiting to see what goes on," he said.
"I do not know what the contract negotiations are with Robert Earnshaw, with Guy Moussi, Nathan Tyson or Dele Adebola. We have six players out of contract and I do not know what the situation is.
"I don't know where we are on that. But there is a psychology involved when you sign players on to a new contract or when you do not.

Manager Davies hopes to agree a new contract at Forest

BILLY Davies hopes his long-term future as manager of Nottingham Forest will be secured, so that he can take on 'the challenge' of establishing the club in the Premier League.
The Scot has just over a year left on his City Ground contract. But he would like to tie himself to a longer deal, to allow him the time to complete his 'rebuilding job' at the club.
"There is nothing at the minute," said Davies, when asked if there had been any discussions with the club on his future.
"But I have said before that we are only part way through rebuilding this football club.
"There is a long way to go still. With a year left on my contract, I will wait and see what happens.
"I have to say that I would thoroughly like to continue the progression of this club over the next number of years.
"I think that is what it is going to take to get us out of this division and where we want to be.
"The chairman said a few weeks ago that we will give it our best shot this season; that we will try to get to the play-offs or beyond.
"If it does not happen this season, we will go for it next season.
"It is not my decision. I came here on a three-and-a-half year deal, with the clear instruction to get us out of this division.
"In the last two transfer windows, progression has stopped. We still have a lot of work to do.
"But I would like to continue that progression and work to not only get out of this division, but also to become an established team in the top division.
"I would love the challenge of that. I still believe anything is possible.
"If we get everyone working together, we can achieve anything. It would be nice to carry this progression forwards."

BILLY Davies today told Nottingham Forest he will deliver promotion - if they can back him with three loan signings.
But he warned that, if the Reds do not earn a place in the Premier League this season, their squad could be torn apart in the summer.
"I am saying it genuinely, if we get three quality players and, then, if we do not go over the finishing line, I will admit it is my fault," said Davies, whose side face top-of-the-table QPR at Loftus Road tomorrow. "I'm more than happy to say that.
"If we do not get those players and we miss out again, as we did last season, then we will have to share the blame.
"When I look at the competition and what they have done, in terms of new signings, it concerns me.
"If we can stay injury and suspension free, we have a great chance of making the play-offs.
"But we need three players for automatic promotion, because fatigue is going to be an issue."

Forest boss fears players will abandon ship after second promotion failure

Billy Davies has launched another astonishing attack on his board and claimed a second promotion blow-out will spark a mass player exodus.
Davies fears his players will be pinched by the predators if Nottingham Forest's Premier League mission collapses for the second successive season.
He said: "If we're going to go up, it has to be this season. We can't afford to miss this opportunity.
"But if we don't finish the job then six out-of-contract players will walk out the door and big clubs could come in for our key players.
"To have a massive turnaround of players and go again next season is a big ask. But if I get three quality players, then if we don't go over the line I'm happy to accept it's my fault.
"These players are heroes to have got us into the top two but they cannot be flogged. Fatigue will be an issue.
"I was hired to get out of this division, not to break records, not to win six games in a row and stay undefeated at home for 34 games. The target is promotion."

"Losing Wilson and having to then replace him, with all the disruption that would entail?
"For me, it is a no-brainer.
"We are here to look after our own back yard. We have to make sure we have the right balance to the squad to see us through. Kelvin is a very important player for this club."
Kaizer Chiefs winger Tshabalala is also off Forest's radar until the summer, despite incorrect reports that a deal had already been done.

"I have never won the league title, and with God-willing I'd like to leave Chiefs with the memory of winning the Absa Premiership for the fans who have supported me throughout the years."
Forest's request to look at Tshabalala on trial before agreeing a deal did not go down well in South Africa where some commentators saw it as a snub. But the player remained unconcerned. He said: "They asked to have a closer look at me and I don't have a problem with that. I know that there are other clubs who would've possibly signed me straight away but Nottingham Forest asked to have a look at me and I am very happy."

The winger is out of contract at Scunthorpe at the end of the season and Forest are reportedly ready to pay £400,000 for the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens.
However, the former York City attacker is unaware of the rumours and says the uncertainty over his future is not a major concern.
"If anything was going to come of it, I would have heard something about it," Woolford told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

Scunthorpe winger Woolford is on Forest transfer radar

NOTTINGHAM Forest are ready to test Scunthorpe's resolve with a £400,000 bid for winger Martyn Woolford. The left-sided player has become the Reds' latest target as the club put together ambitious plans for the January transfer window. Forest have already seen a £2m bid for striker Steve Morison rejected by Millwall. And while the Reds are unlikely to drastically up their offer to the Lions for the Welsh international, Woolford is one of a number of potential additions the club are considering.

Forest's main priority continues to be to add to their front-line, where Leeds United's Luciano Becchio remains high on their shopping list.
The Yorkshire club are desperate to hold on to their Argentine front-man - and are understood to have put a significant price tag on his head.
But, with his contract set to expire in the summer, would-be suitors are in a strong position and Forest are poised to try their luck with a bid.

Reds may look to extend loan deal of Arsenal wonderkid Aaron Ramsey

NOTTINGHAM Forest will look to extend the loan of Arsenal wonderkid Aaron Ramsey further into the new year.
The 19-year-old joined the Reds on November 25, as the Gunners looked to get the youngster match-fit after nine months out with a broken leg.
But so far, the weather has left him a frustrated figure at the City Ground, having played just 30 minutes in the 1-0 defeat at Leicester.
Now he can only play in five more games, starting against Crystal Palace, before his loan ends on January 3 after the match at Leicester.
Reds boss Billy Davies says the club will explore the possibility of keeping him for longer - to benefit both Arsenal and Forest.
Davies said: "It is a possibility and when we get closer to the time we will look at that option."

Forest boss Billy Davies is preparing a £2million raid on Championship rivals Millwall for striker Steve Morison.
Morison has emerged as one of the most coveted strikers outside the Premier League, with 33 goals in just 73 appearances for the Lions. The former Stevenage forward already has 10 goals this term and made his Wales debut in August against Luxembourg.
Davies will attempt to steal the 27-year-old in the New Year and boost his promotion mission at the City Ground.

Forest target Dexter replacement by end of today, with Matt Fryatt among the targets

NOTTINGHAM Forest are going all out to sign a striker before today's loan deadline, with Matty Fryatt topping their list of targets.
Boss Billy Davies has stepped up his efforts to bolster his front line, after it was revealed that Dexter Blackstock is facing at least a year on the sidelines with his knee injury, which has proved to be more serious than feared.
Forest have made enquiries about several players, with Leicester's Fryatt, Simon Cox of West Brom and Blackburn's Jason Roberts all believed to be names on their list.
And it is understood that any potential Fryatt loan bid in particular could be with a view to a permanent deal for the 24-year-old in January.
When asked specifically if he was chasing Fryatt - who would not be allowed to play on Monday when Forest travel to face Leicester - Davies responded cagily.
"We have given lots of different options to the acquisitions panel," he said.
"As I have said before, lots of phone calls have been made, lots of options have been put forward. We will see what the outcome is."

Forest to look to the loan market to bolster injury-ravaged frontline

NOTTINGHAM Forest will look to the loan market to bolster their injury ravaged front-line, Billy Davies said today.
But the manager also warned that the club would still take a cautious approach in the transfer market - and would not make panic signings.
Striker Dexter Blackstock was injured in a horrific incident in the 2-0 win over Cardiff City and it is feared he has cruciate ligament damage that could end his season.
With David McGoldrick also facing a month on the sidelines with a knee problem, it leaves Forest critically short of options.
And the club does not have the option of recalling Joe Garner from his loan spell at Huddersfield Town.
"Of course we will look at bringing players in on loan," said Davies. "But we have a number of players ourselves who want to go out on loan to get games of football.
"With respect, we do not want to be signing somebody ourselves who is the same, who is just wanting to go out and get a game of football."

Davies says Nottingham Forest will battle to hang on to defender Wilson

BILLY Davies today admitted Kelvin Wilson's future at Nottingham Forest is uncertain - but pledged to fight to keep him at the City Ground.
The highly-rated central defender is out of contract in the summer and has already turned down one offer of a new deal in the summer.
Scottish giants Celtic are reportedly preparing a second bid for the former Notts County and Preston man, after seeing a seven-figure offer rejected prior to the start of the campaign.
Forest know that, if Wilson does not agree a new contract, they face a choice of selling him in January or risk losing him for nothing in the summer.
"That is the risk we took. We knew that would be a possibility," said Davies. "We had a player who we'd brought for £300k, that we apparently had an offer of over £1m for.
"We turned down that offer and, when he did not sign that contract, we knew we were coming into this position in the January window."

Boss Billy Davies denies lack of commitment to Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has vehemently denied suggestions he is neglecting his duties.
Newspaper reports over the weekend suggested Davies had been told by the Forest hierarchy that he spends too much time back in his native Scotland.
But Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "When anybody talks about the manager's conduct I am very happy with the conversations I've had with the board.
"This is a clear diversion. People are trying to change the agenda."
He added: "I will not break my contract and talk about those discussions but I am very comfortable with the conversations I have had.
"If people have a concern then I am very happy to bring my lawyer and discuss it."
"The diversion is pure and simple," Davies told BBC East Midlands Today.
"It's all about football, it's all about not moving the club forward and a lack of signings over the last number of transfer windows and now people are trying to re-focus on a different agenda.

Forest boss Davies on collision course with club's board

BILLY Davies has put himself on a collision course with the Nottingham Forest hierarchy again after launching a fresh broadside over the failure to make signings in the last two transfer windows.
The Reds boss insisted his job has been put on the line 'through other people's decisions' in the transfer market.
And he warned that Forest do not currently possess a squad capable of claiming a top-six finish in the Championship.
The latest outburst will further antagonise the City Ground hierarchy, who already have growing concerns about the amount of time Davies spends away from the City Ground and are growing impatient with his repeated claims about financial restraints.
A senior Forest official told the Post: "We have asked questions about the amount of time the manager is spending at the club."
Davies returned from his home in Scotland to take training on Thursday morning, ahead of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Watford - a result that increased his frustration at what he perceives to be a lack of backing in the transfer market.

Exclusive: Earnshaw hopes for new deal and to fire Forest into top-flight

ROBERT Earnshaw wants to extend his contract at Nottingham Forest - so he can help the club make the step up into the top flight and repay the City Ground fans for their backing.

"We have opened talks on the situation over the last couple of weeks and we will see how that goes," said Earnshaw, who signed from Derby for £2.65m in June 2008.

"This place feels good and I want to be here.
"I want to progress personally and I want to see this team pushing to go to the Premier League.

Forest boss Davies keen to add battling qualities to his side's midfield

BILLY Davies has warned Nottingham Forest must add some experienced, battling, 'dog-like' players to their squad in the January transfer window.
The Reds boss wants some steely determination and physical presence in his side, particularly in midfield.
"I think we need to bring this type of player into the side. I am against, as I have said, bringing in loan players. I don't want to borrow the neighbour's lawn mower and start to cut my grass, only for him to come and ask for it back before my lawn is finished," he said.
"That is what happened to us last season with Nicky Shorey and I am very wary of that. If we are here to develop and progress this club, permanent signings are a must. They are the way forward.
"We missed a very good opportunity in the summer. Look at the type of players we tried to get. Darren Pratley has physical presence, he has the qualities that we are after. And we need to be looking at that kind of thing again.
"We have to keep taking the club forward with a different type of player."

Billy Davies is keen to add experience to his Nottingham Forest squad during the international break.
"Something this side lacks is that experience, that knowledge of when to show that strength of personality when they need to," said the Scot.
"They need to be more critical of each other, they need to be more vocal.
"We do not play with enough personality. When I say that, what I mean is the personality to get at each other, to rattle cages when it is required.
"They are young, of course, but they still need to show more character. We need to be able to control each other, to help each other with concentration and discipline.
"You can go right through the side and I don't think we have the players who can provide it.
"I think we need to bring in that type of player. Bringing in the right experience is what counts now. We need that personality and we will try to do that."
