STEVE Cotterill will today continue his efforts to sign a defender to bolster Nottingham Forest's fight against relegation. And the Reds may be tempted to sell striker Patrick Bamford to Chelsea to bolster their limited budget. Cotterill told the Post: "There has been a bid for him from Chelsea, it is for £1.5m," said Cotterill. "The problem we have is that Patrick has been offered a couple of contracts now. "And I am not sure Patrick will sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest. "We are going to have a meeting to decide where that goes. What materialises, we will find out shortly." And Cotterill confirmed that Forest are still working on a tight budget, despite the sale of Morgan. "There is only so much money that comes in (from Leicester) now, there is another chunk in six months time," said Cotterill. "Out of the bit we have now, there is money that has been spent to bring in Cunningham and Harewood. So what we have left is very little. Very little." Read the full article here.

STEVE Cotterill today predicted Patrick Bamford can make a big impact at Nottingham Forest in the future - but does not believe the striker is ready to play an integral role in the Reds' relegation fight. "What has helped him is that he has been training with the first team for three months," said Cotterill. "That has sharpened him up so that, when he goes back down to that level, he is strong. "There has been a huge improvement in Patrick, from that training he has done with the first team. "Really, he should have been training with the first team long before now. "He might have been a bit further along in his development then. "Currently, I still think Championship football is a little bit too much for him. Nottingham Forest have rejected two bids from Leicester City for defender Wes Morgan, and are holding out for £1 million. Forest turned down a bid of £500,000 on Thursday evening and City immediately responded with a second offer of £650,000 yesterday, which was again refused. However, Forest are unlikely to reject a third bid for their longest-serving player, who is out of contract at the end of the season, as manager Steve Cotterill knows he must sell before he can strengthen his squad. A compromise offer of £800,000 may be enough to land the 27-year-old, who has spent his entire career at the City Ground.
