Up And Running

Posted on: Tue 24 Aug 2010
Robbie Gibbons scored twice as Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side launched the new FA Premier Academy League season with victory over Cardiff.

The Reds ran out 4-2 winners in South Wales, with three of the goals coming in the second half.

They took the lead through Joe Swindells after just 90 seconds but allowed Cardiff to seize the initiative with two first half goals.

Forest recovered their composure after the break, with Danny Meadows equalising early in the second half before Gibbons grabbed his brace.

He made it 3-2 when the Cardiff goalkeeper failed to hold his free-kick and rounded off the scoring when, after his penalty had been saved, he fired home the rebound.

Team: Mytides, Artymatas, Freeman, Meadows, Lascelles, Byrne, Kay, Gibbons (Laifis 80), Swindell, Bamford (Tinsley 15), Osborn. Subs not used: Furlong, Kyprianou, Andrews.
