Billy Davies insists he has seen enough from his Nottingham Forest players in their opening two Championship games to feel renewed optimism about the future.
The Reds will face Reading at The Madejski Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) looking to build on last Sunday's 1-1 draw against Leeds.
Forest are still looking for their first win of the season in the npower Championship following a narrow opening day defeat at Burnley.
But boss Davies has taken great encouragement from what he has witnessed so far from his players.
He told us: "I think in the 180 minutes of league football we've played there have been lots of positives.
"
Robert Earnshaw hit the post in both games and we've created lots of chances.
"We know we could and should have got more but it wasn't to be.
"But there have certainly been lots of positives, which is encouraging.
"I would be concerned if we weren't creating chances but anyone who has seen us this season knows that's not the case."
Forest should head south to Berkshire with few fears having taken four points from Reading last season.
That, however, is history as far as Davies is concerned who insists his team will treat The Royals with the respect they deserve.
He added: "We've done all our homework on the games they've played so far but you can guarantee they will have done the same on us.
"What we've got to do is go down there and get the best out of the players we've got and try, if you like, to get five star performances from most of our team. "If we can get that then we will be a handful for anybody."
