Billy Davies was disappointed with the quality of finishing that contributed to his side going out of the Carling Cup after being defeated by League Two side Bradford City.
With five players on international duty and others injured, he was forced to pick a young side and play a number of players out of position.
Speaking of the game, he told us: "It is the same old story, we cannot go on having the chances in front of goal without hitting the target.
"The amount of chances we miss is unexplainable because we are training and working at this every day.
"I was disappointed with the quality of finishing today."
The manager laid some of the blame at the high wages paid to young players, from the Premiership down through the League, saying: "We give too many young players too much, too early, they need to realise that people pay good money to come and see them.
"We have very well-paid players and it is their responsibility to produce the quality of play and finishing that will entertain the supporters.
"The bottom line is that quality, quantity and depth are all needed to shake up the pecking order and we need all three of those."
