Eager Billy

Posted on: Tue 11 May 2010
Billy Davies insists he cannot wait for tonight's Championship play-off semi-final second leg against Blackpool at The City Ground (kick-off 7.45pm).

Nottingham Forest are 2-1 down after the first leg but manager Davies remains confident his side can still make it to Wembley and is determined to enjoy the experience.

"It's a very exciting time, a great experience for young players," he says.

"If anyone had said to us at the start of the season that we would find ourselves facing Blackpool at home in the second leg of a play-off semi-final in front of 30,000 people with an opportunity to get to Wembley, we'd have bitten their hand off.

"We're looking forward to the game and we've got go and do again what we have been doing at The City Ground this season.

"We would have accepted a top 12 finish, realistically looking at the situation and where we had come from.

"That's why we've got to enjoy the position we find ourselves in.

"The play-offs are a lottery - on Saturday, clearly, we should have been three or four up at half-time.

"We didn't get the little breaks we needed; we hit the bar, we had two cleared off the line and at the break it could have been a very difficult position for Blackpool to have come back from.

"But that's the play-offs - you need the breaks, you need the refereeing decisions and you need things to go for you.

"I've got to say that I'm really excited and looking forward to the second leg."
