Bristol City Preview

Posted on: Thu 01 Apr 2010

Nottingham Forest will kick-off their Easter weekend double-header with a trip to Bristol City on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
And The Reds will head to the West Country determined to apply the brakes to their run of seven successive away defeats in the Championship.
Their latest setback came at the hands of league leaders Newcastle on Monday but boss Billy Davies will be confident his side can bounce back at Ashton Gate before returning to The City Ground on Monday to face Cardiff (kick-off 5.15pm).
City have enjoyed a mini revival since the departure of long-serving manager Gary Johnson last month.
His assistant Keith Millen has been placed in caretaker charge and has guided City to a draw with leaders Newcastle and back-to-back wins over Barnsley and Peterborough.
Forest will be hoping to put the skids under their improvement as they look to gain some reward for their efforts on the road.

Team news

Forest emerged from the Newcastle game nursing a few bumps and bruises and the club will assess the fitness of the likes of Kelvin Wilson and Nathan Tyson ahead of the trip to Bristol.
Skipper Paul McKenna and Julian Bennett are unavailable but loan signing George Boyd will be hoping to force his way back into the 18, having missed out at Newcastle.
City's caretaker boss Keith Millen is confident Danny Haynes, Marvin Elliott and Bradley Orr will be fit to face Forest.
Haynes and Elliott were forced out of the action against Peterborough last weekend by a calf injury and head wound respectively, while Orr is reported to have a tight hamstring.
City will definitely be without Jamie McAllister (ankle) and Jamie McCombe (knee), who are out for the remainder of the season, while James Wilson is currently out of action with a knee problem.

Their key man

Nicky MaynardThe goals of Nicky Maynard - he has 16 in all competitions - have made him City's star man this season.
But the contribution of Danny Haynes in his first campaign as a City player shouldn't be under-estimated.
The 22 year old, who can operate either as a winger or striker, has scored seven times this term, including City's equaliser at The City Ground earlier in the season.
He added two more goals to his tally last month in City's remarkable 5-3 home victory over Barnsley.
He joined City from Ipswich last summer for an undisclosed fee.

What the record books say

Saturday's game at Ashton Gate will represent the 77th time that Forest and Bristol City have found themselves on a collision course in league and cup action.
The Reds have recorded 35 wins while City have bagged 16 victories, with 28 games finishing deadlocked - including their City Ground meeting earlier in the season.
That finished 1-1 after two goals in the final four minutes of the contest.
Forest were first to draw blood with Wes Morgan opening his goal account for the season by firing home from close range from Chris Cohen's free-kick.

Robert Earnshaw wasted a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 when he blasted over from Dele Adebola's pull-back.
And that miss proved to be costly as City equalised in the 89th minute, courtesy of Danny Haynes, who fired past Camp after Jamie McCombe had knocked down Paul Hartley's ball forward.

Forest: Camp, Gunter, Morgan, Wilson, Cohen, Garner (McCleary 65), McKenna, Moussi, Majewski (Adebola 57), Anderson, McGoldrick (Earnshaw 73). Subs not used: Smith, Chambers, McGugan, Lynch.
Bristol City: Gerken, Skuse, Nyatanga, Carey, McAllister (Clarkson 75), Hartley, Sno (Williams 59), Elliott, Maynard, Saborio (McCombe 69), Haynes. Subs not used: Basso, Fontaine, Johnson, Akinde.
