Comeback Keeps Run Alive

Posted on: Mon 08 Mar 2010

Nottingham Forest Under 18s came from 2-0 down against Sheffield Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run in the FA Premier Academy League to 12 games.

The game at Wilford Lane on Saturday finished 3-3 after The Reds staged a storming second half comeback.

A Tom Mullen penalty and goals from Carl Sibson and Danny Elliott earned Forest a valuable point.

Coach Eoin Jess said: "We were on top for much of the first half and hit the bar and post but conceded two goals against the run of play. We lost concentration and were duly punished.

"We got ourselves back into it in the second half with a Tom Mullen penalty but within two minutes we conceded a third goal after conceding possession in midfield.

"But we hit back again and could actually have won the game in the closing stages.

"The lads showed great character in coming back. A lack of games in recent weeks didn't help but what was pleasing was the fact they kept trying to play football and didn't resort to launching the ball."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Byrne, Watson, Benjamin (Reynor 82), Biansumba (Elliott 60), Gibbons, Meadows, Sykes, Thomson, Mullen. Subs not used: Artymatas, Kyprianou, Gathercole.
