BD: 'We Deserved It'

Posted on: Sat 06 Mar 2010

Billy Davies insisted Nottingham Forest deserved their 1-0 victory over Swansea.

Luke Chambers marked his return to the starting line-up by bagging the late, late goal that secured Forest's 10th successive home league win.

Chambers' injury-time header settled the contest and also lifted The Reds back into the second place in the table after West Brom's 3-1 defeat at QPR.

And boss Davies said: "I think the win was warranted - I think we created the better chances and missed some good opportunities.

"We should have gone ahead through Chris Cohen but he tried not to get his hair dirty.

"It was always going to be a close game because they are a good side but it's a tremendous three points."

Swansea boss Paulo Sousa felt aggrieved after his side had appeals for a penalty waved away after left back Cohen appeared to bring down Darren Pratley 17 minutes from time.

And Davies added: "I wouldn't have been very happy if that decision had gone against us.

"But over the last three weeks we've been denied stonewall penalties, so what goes around comes around."

The win unfortunately came at a cost with skipper Paul McKenna limping out of the action after just six minutes.

"He has picked up a bad knee injury," said Davies. "We don't know the severity of it just yet."

McKenna joins Kelvin Wilson (knee/ankle) and Robert Earnshaw (Achilles tendon), both of whom were forced to miss the game.
