International Report

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010
It was a mixed night for Forest players on international duty.

Radoslaw Majewski enjoyed a winning return to the Polish national team. Majewski, earning his seventh cap, was replaced at half-time in the match against Bulgaria in Warsaw. Poland led 1-0 at the time, before going on to win the match 2-0.

Chris Gunter and Rob Earnshaw were part of the Wales side which lost 1-0 to Sweden at Swansea's Liberty Stadium. Gunter, earning his 21st cap, played the full 90 minutes, while Earnshaw came on as a half-time substitute for Sheffield United's Ched Evans to earn his 48th cap.

And goalkeeper Shane Redmond, currently on loan at Darlington, earned his 16th cap for Republic of Ireland under-21s. Redmond played the full 90 minutes for the young Irish side against Armenia in Dublin, just a day after playing for Darlington in a 3-1 home defeat against Port Vale.

Redmond was beaten twice in the first half against Armenia, by a shot which squirmed under his body after the Irish defence had backed off the attacker and then by a stunning free-kick as the Armenians ran out 2-1 winners at Tallaght Stadium.
