Middlesbrough Preview

Posted on: Thu 18 Feb 2010
Nottingham Forest will go head-to-head with Middlesbrough on Saturday - for the third time this season.
The two sides have already met in the Championship at The Riverside Stadium and in the Carling Cup on Trentside.
The league game in November finished 1-1 while Forest had the edge in the cup contest back in August, winning 2-1.
And The Reds will be hoping to make it a City Ground double as they look to secure their ninth successive home win in the Championship.
They made it eight with a 1-0 success over Sheffield United on Tuesday, just as Middlesbrough were slipping up against 10-man Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. They lost 2-0 and also missed a penalty.

Team news

Forest are still unable to call upon the suspended Garath McCleary and Joel Lynch, who has a thigh injury, along with long-term injury victim Julian Bennett.
But The Reds suffered no fresh injuries in the win over Sheffield United and manager Billy Davies could name an unchanged starting line-up.
Boro will hope to have Emanuel Pogatetz and Chris Killen available - both men have been sidelined for a couple of games - while loan star Kyle Naughton could return after being overlooked at Blackpool.

Their key man

Barry RobsonBarry Robson could have been lining up in a Forest shirt against Boro on Saturday had The Reds been successful in their pursuit of the midfielder earlier in his career.
Former boss Colin Calderwood was a keen admirer of the versatile midfielder during his Dundee United days and wanted to take him south of the border.
But instead of heading for The City Ground, Robson joined Gordon Strachan's Celtic in January 2008.
He made a huge impression at Parkhead and when Strachan was appointed Boro boss earlier this season few were surprised when he swooped to land Robson last month.
Robson, who was one of five players signed from Celtic during the January transfer window, opened his goal account for his new club last Saturday b y bagging the winner against Peterborough.

What the record books say

Forest's Carling Cup victory earlier in the season was their 21st all-time win over Boro in all competitions.
Middlesbrough, in contrast, have recorded 19 wins over The Reds, while 28 games have finished deadlocked - including their last meeting, at The Riverside Stadium.
The home side made a blistering start to the game with Leroy Lita firing them in front after just four minutes after Julio Arca's shot had been parried by Lee Camp.
Boro 'keeper Brad Jones spilled a 16th minute long range shot from Guy Moussi but Forest were unable to capitalise on the mistake.
Jones made a smart save on the stroke of half-time to deny David McGoldrick after the striker had been sent clear by Dele Adebola.
Forest had appeals for a penalty ignored after Sean St Ledger appeared to handle a shot from Joe Garner early in the second half.
And soon afterwards Jones again came to his side's rescue, finger-tipping away a shot by Garner as we pressed for an equaliser.
Jones produced another excellent save - in the 55th minute - to deny Paul Anderson after he had sprung Boro's offside trap.
But Forest were finally rewarded for their persistence 17 minutes from time as substitute Robert Earnshaw's sublime free-kick from just outside the area beat Jones.

Middlesbrough: Jones, Williams, Wheater, St. Ledger, Pogatetz, Arca (Digard 66), O'Neil, Osbourne, Johnson, Lita (Franks 76), Kitson (Bent 57). Subs not used: Coyne, Taylor, Yeates, McMahon.
Forest: Camp, Gunter, Cohen, Morgan, Wilson, Garner (McCleary 65), Anderson, McKenna, Moussi, Adebola (Blackstock 80), McGoldrick (Earnshaw 57). Subs not used: Smith, Chambers, McGugan, Majewski.
