Nottingham Forest's youngsters registered their third successive FA Premier Academy League win with a 3-0 success over Leeds in Yorkshire.

Forest were in control of the game for long periods after Tom Mullen had given them a third minute lead.

But they had to wait until the 56th minute for a second when George Thomson applied the finishing touch to a lob from Mullen that might have been on its way into the net.

Mullen also hit the woodwork but a third goal came seven minutes from the end when substitute Danny Elliott fired into an empty net when a clearance from the Leeds keeper dropped at his feet.

Said coach Eoin Jess: "Our success on the day was based on a really good defensive performance. So well did the back four perform that our goalkeeper Zannetos Mytides had very little to do.

"We played some good football and could have had more goals but the over-riding factor was how well we defended as a team but particularly the defensive unit."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Watson, McCashin, Freeman, Biansumba (Elliott), Gibbons, Meadows, Sykes, Thomson (Reynor), Mullen (Kyprianou).
Subs not used: Gathercole, Benjamin.
