Watford Preview

Posted on: Thu 24 Dec 2009

Watford will become the latest side to attempt to put the skids under Nottingham Forest's unbeaten run when they meet at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day (kick-off 12noon).
The Reds made it 14 games unbeaten by easing past Preston at The City Ground last weekend.
That 3-0 win lifted Forest to third in the Championship table, level on points with second-placed West Brom.
Watford, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five games - their only success in that time coming in the form of a 3-1 win over QPR.
Their latest setback came at the hands of struggling Peterborough at London Road last Saturday.

Team news

Forest are heading into the festive period with no fresh injury concerns, although midfielder Guy Moussi is still ruled out.
The Frenchman has missed five games with an ankle injury that Billy Davies has described as a "mystery."
Watford, meanwhile, have this week said farewell to striker Nathan Ellington, who is poised to join Greek Super League side Skoda Xanthi on a 12-month loan.

Their key man

Tom Cleverley
Tom Cleverley's loan spell at Vicarage Road from Manchester United is due to come to an end next month.
If the arrangement is not extended, Watford will have a real void to fill in their midfield as the 20 year old has been a key figure for Malky Mackay's side this term.
The England Under 20 international has scored seven goals in 19 appearances, including a debut strike against us back in August.

What the record books say

Forest and Watford have only met 39 times in league and cup football and it's The Reds who had had the edge.
They have recorded 14 victories, compared to 12 wins for The Hornets.
It was, however, the men from Vicarage Road who had the upper hand when the two sides met at The City Ground in August.
It was an evening to forget for Billy Davies and his players as they crashed to a 4-2 defeat.
Watford took the lead 14 minutes before the break as Danny Graham rose above Wes Morgan to head home Tommy Smith's cross.
But Forest levelled on the stroke of half-time courtesy of Dexter Blackstock's second goal of the campaign. He scored from close range after being picked out by Paul McKenna's pin-point pass.
Watford restored their lead 14 minutes from time and again Smith was involved. Lee Camp made a superb save to tip his header onto the wood but Mike Williamson was on hand to fire in the rebound.
The visitors stretched their lead three minutes later as Smith helped himself to a goal, rifling a shot past Camp.
Dele Adebola gave Forest hope with his first goal for the club as he beat Scott Loach from David McGoldrick's pass.
But Watford had the last laugh with Tom Cleverly wrapping up their victory with a fourth goal on the stroke of full time.
