Robert Earnshaw will miss out on the chance to return to Cardiff with Nottingham Forest.
Earnshaw started his career with the South Wales club and had hoped he might recover from a calf injury in time to feature in Sunday's game at the new Cardiff City Stadium (kick-off 5pm).
But Billy Davies has confirmed that the problem, which has kept the striker out of Forest's last three games, will deny him an emotional return.
Dexter Blackstock also remains sidelined with a knee injury - although Davies hopes that both he and Earnshaw will be fit to return to action after the international break, which follows next Saturday's home game with Bristol City.
James Perch, who suffered a slight knock in training this week, will not be considered but Guy Moussi is available again after suspension.
The Frenchman has strong claim for a starting role, having bagged the match-winner in his last outing against Barnsley earlier this month.
Paul Anderson has been passed fit to take his place in the squad, despite taking a blow to the head against Crystal Palace last weekend.
