Billy Davies has revealed
David McGoldrick has played his way into his thinking for a Nottingham Forest start against Peterborough tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
The summer signing from Southampton stepped off the bench at half-time against Scunthorpe on Wednesday and produced an outstanding display as The Reds ran out 2-0 winners.
McGoldrick is now eyeing-up a place in Davies' starting XI to face Peterborough - and he may get his wish.
"David's performance in the second half against Scunthorpe has given us major problems," the manager said.
"But that's what he does - that's what I thought before the game.
"I thought a hard working
Joe Garner getting around their central midfield player, Josh Wright, and keeping things slightly compact would be a tactic for the first 45 minutes.
"And I always thought the tactic for the second half would be to get a very clever McGoldrick on who can pick pockets, create space and cut teams open with passes. That's exactly what he did."
Kelvin Wilson returns to the Forest squad after he was rested against Scunthorpe.
The central defender suffered a severe bout of cramp in both his calf muscles against Plymouth last Sunday and it was decided not to risk him in midweek.
The Reds are also boosted by the fact they have no fresh injury concerns in the wake of the Scunthorpe win.
