BD: 'Albion's Line-Up A Compliment'

Posted on: Tue 18 Aug 2009
Billy Davies believes West Brom played Nottingham Forest a huge compliment by altering their formation for their visit to The City Ground.

The Forest boss admits he was surprised when his opposite number Roberto Di Matteo opted to deploy just one striker with a five-man midfield.

Davies expects his team will have to adopt a patient approach again this evening when Forest meet Watford at The City Ground (kick-off 7.45pm).

He said: "It's a huge pat on our back when a big club like West Brom change their formation, play one up front and try and flood the midfield.

"That was a great surprise to me. They did it at times in the Premier League when they had to do it because they were playing at a different level.

"But it's very rare that West Brom make changes like that and I think that's in recognition of what we are now - a very different animal.

"People know we're a major threat."
