Reds Land Adebola
Tue 30 Jun 2009
Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce that Dele Adebola has agreed to join them on a free transfer.
The experienced striker will complete his move to The City Ground tomorrow when his contract with Bristol City expires.
Adebola will sign a two-year contract and is manager Billy Davies' second close-season signing following the capture of David McGoldrick from Southampton yesterday.
The arrival of McGoldrick and Adebola takes Davies' complement of senior strikers to five.
Adebola, 34, is City's 'Player of the Year'. He scored 10 goals last season and was on target when Gary Johnson's side visited The City Ground in April.
He scored in the 77th minute to establish a 2-1 lead for City but The Reds hit back two late goals to snatch a dramatic victory.
Adebola launched his career with Crewe and was so successful at Gresty Road that Birmingham paid £1million for his services in 1998.
He also served Crystal Palace and Coventry - and had loan spells with Bradford and Burnley - before moving to City.
The Nigerian-born star has scored more than 130 league and cup goals and The Reds are believed to have beaten off competition from a host of other Championship clubs to secure his services.
