Reading Opener ... Again
Wed 24 Jun 2009
Nottingham Forest will launch their Championship campaign against Reading for the second successive year, according to the draft fixtures for the 2009-10 season released today.
The two teams fought out a goalless draw at The City Ground on the opening day of last season.
This time, however, Forest will have to hit the road with the game at The Madejski Stadium provisionally scheduled for Saturday, August 8 - although supporters should note that all fixtures are subject to change.
Forest's first home league game will see them pit their wits against newly-relegated West Brom a week later, followed by another City Ground encounter - with Watford - four days later.
After a trip to Queens Park Rangers on August 22, The Reds will then face arch-rivals Derby at The City Ground on Saturday, August 29 (the return game at Pride Park is scheduled for Saturday, January 30).
Other notable fixtures include a home date with relegated Newcastle on Saturday, October 17, with the return fixture at St. James' Park scheduled for Saturday, March 27.
Forest are scheduled to meet Middlesbrough, who like Newcastle and Wes Brom have just been relegated from the Premier League, at The Riverside Stadium on Saturday, November 21, with the return game in Nottingham on Saturday, February 20.
Forest will travel to face newly-promoted Peterborough at London Road on Saturday, October 3 - with the return at The City Ground on Saturday, March 20.
They will meet Leicester at The City Ground on Saturday, December 5, with a trip to The Walkers Stadium scheduled for Saturday, February 27.
Forest will travel to Watford on Boxing Day but there's no New Year's Day football with the FA Cup third round scheduled for January 2.
And Billy Davies and his men will bring the curtain down on their season with a trip to promoted Scunthorpe on Sunday, May 2.

Tuesday, August 18 - Watford (h)
Saturday, August 22 - QPR (a) Saturday, August 29 - Derby (h)
