Billy Davies today revealed he is keen to secure his first signings of the summer.
Nottingham Forest have been linked with a host of players since the curtain fell on their Championship campaign last month.
Media reports have suggested that Southampton's David McGoldrick, Paul McKenna of Preston and Bristol City's Dele Adebola are poised for summer switches to The City Ground.
And manager Davies told us: "It's important we try and conclude one or two signings.
"The competition that's in this league next season, there's no doubt it's a massive challenge ahead for us again.
"We've got to be humble and start off with a humble mentality again next season.
"We've got to make sure that everyone is giving total effort and support because we've got no divine right, even though we are Nottingham Forest, to win matches.
"People won't make it easy for us - we've got to earn that right.
"We'll only do that by creating the same positive attitude that we created last season - that came from the fans on the terraces, right through the staff at the club and all the way into the dressing room to the players.
"If we can do that and keep that tremendous spirit and crucially bring in a huge amount of signings, then I think we will be ready to make a good challenge."
