Cole Departs

Posted on: Fri 31 Oct 2008

Nottingham Forest today confirmed that Andrew Cole has had his City Ground contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The 37 year old Nottingham-born striker joined Forest during the summer after being released by Sunderland.

The former Manchester United, Newcastle and England man made 11 appearances for The Reds, including five starts, but failed to open his goal account for the club.

Manager Colin Calderwood reflected: "It's a shame things haven't worked out as well as we had both planned when Andrew joined us and we came to the joint conclusion that it was best we went our separate ways.

"All my attention is now focussed on preparing the squad for Sunday's game at Derby.

"But I would like to place on record my thanks for the contribution Andrew has made and wish him all the best for the future."
